a little list of good things

The past few days have been good! Here’s why:

• In addition to the jury making the right decision in the Chauvin case, Marcus took a few days after some strenuous months at work. I suggested that he take the days off and go camping, since he loves to camp, and I decidedly do not. He thought it was a great idea, so he packed up his trail bike and his camping gear and off he went into the Piney Woods. He read books and sketched in his sketchbook and took the lovely photos you see in this post. He had a wonderful, restorative time.

I still won’t go camping, though.

• Speaking of the Chauvin case, I love this photoessay of reactions to the verdict from around the country.

Scientists revived a 32,000-year-old plant from Siberian permafrost. Amazing!

I’m kind of digging this replica of the famous painting “Great Wave off Kanagawa" work of Hokusai (1820-30)," made with face masks and a dog toy.

• You all know how much I love LEGO, so this artist who sculpts only using black LEGO pieces blew my mind. (Be sure to watch the video!)

• Have you guys watched Ted Lasso yet? Well, first, if you haven’t, you should — it’s a show that’s all about making light. But secondly, if you have seen it — this might actually be the shortbread recipe Ted uses in the series. Why yes, I’ll be making it this weekend, why do you ask?

• And finally, for today’s soundtrack: New Day (Otis Parham) by Sean C. Johnson.

Have a great weekend, friends.
