this was a good week (8/100)
This was a good week! Here’s why:
• We made it to Friday, yo. This was an incredibly challenging week around here — I’m just thrilled that I got through it, and that August promises to be a month full of writing. Let’s do this.
• We’re off to see if life ever existed on Mars. You know the space geek in me loves this.
• These images of jewel-toned flowers in moody waters are mesmerizing.
• If you’re looking for a daily dose of beautiful, love-filled food for thought, look no further than Dr. Bertice Berry.
• Parents of young ones worried about sending them back to school: Erin Loechner wonders maybe if this is your gap year.
• A documentary of The Go-Gos premiers this weekend on Showtime! Fun fact: not long ago (but before coronavirus), I was on a panel with Kathy Valentine, the Go-Go’s bass player, and we immediately clicked. She’s as lovely as you’d expect, and her amazing memoir was published earlier this year, as well. G’on and get you some.
• Days before he died, civil rights icon John Lewis wrote us a message of hope.
• And finally, for today’s soundtrack: I think tonight we’ll watch The Full Monty for movie night — mostly because You Can Leave Your Hat On, as performed by Tom Jones, has been running through my head all day. Enjoy.
And have a great weekend, friends.
