this was a good week
This was a good week! Here’s why:
• My daughter returns from her trip to New York City tomorrow (ask me how nervous I’ve been this week), my beautiful friend Jen made me the gorgeous hand-thrown mugs you see in the photo above, and I was able to spend time with a dear friend who came in from out of town. It’s all good.
• And speaking of nervous, do you know how to wash your hands? This animation is a great demonstration. (And remember, scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds — the length of time it takes to sing “Happy Birthday” twice, or the Alphabet Song once. And my doctor friend Steve says it’s a good habit to wash your hands as a matter of course as soon as you return to your home.)
• These sandcastles are insane.
• On a trip to the Caribbean one year, my daughter became a fan of virgin piña coladas. We’ve no plans for this year’s spring break, but perhaps I could make these for her at home (without the rum, of course).
• Love this piece on a Greek Paralympic fencer, who is breaking all kinds of records. Humans are amazing.
• Finally, for today’s soundtrack: 6-year-old MiuMiu of Beijing performs a Bossanova rendition of Fly Me To the Moon. I have a thing for Bossanova, and this might be the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard.

Have a great weekend, lovelies.
