christmas in august (25/100)

We moved into this house December 1st, 2018, and 20 days later, on December 21st, my sister-in-law, her husband and her three kids arrived to spend Christmas with us. This meant, of course, that we had 20 days to get our house in shape for the holidays (including buying appliances, beds — just about everything, since we’d lost everything in the flood).

We managed to do it, and ended up warming our house with the best Christmas celebration ever, filled with noisy kids, the smells of baking, and general merriment. When I was putting together the guest room, I decided to drape Christmas lights over the mirror, so that the room felt festive (and would detract from the new construction smell).

It’s now almost 2 years later, and the Christmas lights remain. I figure they make a pretty night light for any guests who stay over.

(Who am I kidding: there are string lights all over this house. It’s a sickness.)
