So. The book launch.
It was absolutely amazing, but not necessarily for the reasons you might think: I mean, obviously, it was great to celebrate the fact that a book I wrote is now out and available for purchase. But really, what made the whole event one of the best evenings of my life were the people who celebrated with me. My family was there, of course, as well as some of my very best friends in life. But also, there were friends from my past as a lawyer. A close family friend who I haven't seen in years, one who babysat me when my mother was giving birth to my little sister was there. An old college chum came. There was even one sweet friend I hadn't seen since middle school -- 31 years ago! -- who showed up, bringing her awesome husband. There were blogging and social media friends. And there were even two wonderful women who flew in for the occasion.
Needless to say, I was completely overwhelmed.
And so, even beyond the fact that it was a packed house and Brazos Bookstore sold many books, the night was truly one of the biggest and most important nights of my life. So thank you to all of you who came to celebrate with me. I've not been so happy and moved in a long time.
(And a huge thanks to AnnGeeDee for the photos!)

And now to business: the winner of the final signed copy of The Beauty of Different, according to Random.org, is Monica, who said, "i'm thinking about doing a vision board. nothing scares the heck out of me more than the possibility of visions realized." Congratulations, Monica! I'll contact you via email to get your contact information.

And finally, if you're in or around San Antonio, I'd love to see you this week! After a morning appearance on San Antonio Living this Thursday, December 9, I'll hopefully be meeting you at the Coco Chocolate Lounge, 18402 US 281N, from 6-9 pm! There'll be cocktails, chocolate, and Twig bookstore will be on hand selling books that I'll most happily sign, in case you're looking for something different as a holiday gift.
It would be great if you come.
