travaasa
So this little getaway that Marcus and I had this weekend wasn't entirely for leisure. The truth is, we went to check out a potential venue for Lime Retreats -- Travaasa Resort. And goodness me, it was really lovely.
I mean, the photograph above and the one below were shot from our balcony, and show the bungalows that were nearest to our own. Also? They're specifically oriented so that you can watch the sunrise from the privacy of your deck (whereas the patio near the resort's bar is situated so that you can watch the sunset with the other guests of the hotel). Brilliant, right?
And for the record, here's what that sunrise looked like:
Splendid.
And here's what our room looked like. I got the left bed, and Marcus got the right:
(Dude, I'm totally lying. It was our first night away without the kid in recent memory, remember?)
The rest of the grounds were amazing as well. Like, an infinity pool, baby:
(We were told it was heated, but we didn't try it out. The temperature had dropped to the 50's, and the thought of getting out of the pool all wet and drippy in that climate did not appear to this West Indian girl.)
And there were beautiful gardens, including a labyrinth. People, I love me a labyrinth.
The resort also has a spa, and horseback riding, and a challenge course with ziplining ... really lovely spot.
After Marcus and I toured, Marcus returned to the room to get some work done before dinner, and I went over to the patio to wait for the sunset with a glass of wine:
I haven't finalized anything for Lime Retreats as of yet, but I think you can see why this location is a strong contender. In fact, I've got all kinds of fantasies for all kinds of other retreats as well...
On that note, I'm going to be a little MIA over the next few days: I have a huge presentation I'm finalizing, and some other crazy work that has popped up, so I'm going to have my head down for that. In the meantime, friends, if you're on the East Coast of the US, please stay safe.
(Also, I'd love your feedback: What do you think of this place? Lawyers, does this look like somewhere you'd like to retreat to? Nonlawyers, think maybe you'd be interested in a retreat here as well?)
Song: Cold shot by Stevie Ray Vaughn. Because when you're in central Texas, you should listen to great Texas blues.
