this was a good week
This was a good week! Here’s why:
• The weather is seasonal, I was appropriately witchy, and the Halloween trick-or-treaters were especially darling this year (including one little nerd who, despite my giving him a handful of candy, decided to play a trick on me anyway, involving a little wooden box and Schrödinger's Cat. It was so nerdy, I'm not even going to bother to describe it here; but it was hysterical and clever enough to earn him a second handful of candy).
• Speaking of Halloween, Andrea’s memories of Halloween costumes past totally charm me.
• Turns out that among his many achievements, Benjamin Franklin also created a dictionary for over 200 terms that all meant “to be blind drunk.” because why not?
• This photographer filmed a short clip of his daughter every week from the time she was born until she was 18 years old — and it’s mesmerizing.
• Turns out every country is best at something. Canadians? You’re best at doughnuts. Brits? You’re best at billionaires. And Americans? You’re best at … spam emails.
• And finally, something a little different for today’s soundtrack: this video about the Day of the Dead, Mexico, and what the monarch butterflies can teach us about each other.

Oh! Also! Like a crazy person, I signed up for NaBloPoMo — like I didn’t have enough on my plate this month! But let’s do this. Time to really get this blog smoking. (You should totally join us — fire up your blog, if you have one!)
See you tomorrow, friends.
