reflected light

It has been really overcast the last few days here in Houston, which makes photographing actual light a bit more difficult.  So I had to get creative:  a neighbour's tulip magnolia tree is in full bloom, so I figured that the light-coloured petals would reflect what little light there was.  So I snuck into their front yard and grabbed a couple of shots.

It worked out pretty well.

I talk about looking for the light a lot -- and often, it's easy to find.  But sometimes it's not.  And sometimes when you can't see the light, seeing the effects of it is comforting enough.

"There are two ways of spreading light:  be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it."

~  Edith Wharton
