peer pressure
So I mentioned that last week Alex was at Camp Jam, a rock-and-roll music camp. During this camp, which is only 5 days long, the kids were divided into bands on the first day, and for the remainder of the week they perfected a song to perform together on the evening of the last day. Alex's band, Peer Pressure, consisted of five members, ranging in age from 11 to 17 (Alex is 12). They did great, and Alex had an amazing week, connecting with her band mates, navigating band debates, and dealing with creative differences. We are, naturally, really proud of her, and the band members have vowed to remain in touch.
But that's not all!
In addition to performing, the band also got some time in a recording studio, to record their song together. Their recording just arrived, and I have to say, for kids who only had 5 days together, they sound great. Alex gave me permission to share the recording here, and so, Ladies & Gentlemen, I give you ... Peer Pressure, performing that Nirvana classic, Come As You Are.
