I did my final edits of yesterday's post over the weekend, and on Sunday, we went over to my parents' house for lunch.  While I was there, I was still thinking about how I haven't printed nearly enough photos of my life, when I realized with shock that I don't remember ever taking a formal portrait of my parents together.  I mean, ever.

Luckily, I had my camera with me. 

Yesterday, I shared with you the story of my ancestors.  Today, friends, meet my mom & dad, Kermitt & Yvette Walrond:  married 47 years, proud Trinidadians, doting grandparents.  And while I'll take credit for anything technically good or bad about the shot, that warmth and friendliness you see oozing from this image is all them.

Song:  Nessun dorma, as performed by Luciano Pavarotti.  My parents are Luciano Pavarotti and opera nuts, so the least I can do is feature a little opera up in this post.   And even I have to admit that his performance is pretty amazing (although I actually prefer the Aretha Franklin version.)
