#lookforthelight: september 2014
Fall has well and truly begun now: kids are back in school, routines are back in full swing, even the humidity in Houston has finally dropped to the point that mornings around here are, if not cool, at least crisp. Things have become really busy: no more of the lazy, hazy days of summer around these parts. This, coupled with the continual barrage of crazy news all over various forms of media (both domestic and international) has made life feel like an insane whirlwind.
You know that saying, "Stop the world, I want to get off?" Yeah, that.
For this reason, our little #lookforthelight gratitude practice -- the habit of stopping and noticing light and beauty when I can find it, even if only for a second or two -- has become a matter of survival for me. It's a moment when I can catch myself and breathe, even if it's just for a minute. It's a moment of calm.
I hope that you're finding this to be the case for yourselves, as well. Certainly, as I look through your images, calm is what I feel.
Here are 10 of my favourites of your images this month. Don't forget to click on the photographers' names, so you can see the rest of their beautiful work.
Thanks for continuing to share your light with me, friends. Keep 'em coming.
Thanks again to all of you who participated this month in #lookforthelight -- keep 'em coming! If you'd like to participate and you have an Instagram account (it's free), simply grab shots of the light in your life with your mobile device, and add the hashtag "#lookforthelight" to your shot, either in the caption or in the comments. I'll feature my 10 favourite shots again at the end of November here on Chookooloonks, giving lots of link love, naturally. And of course, click here to see all the submissions (and feel free to follow along my own progress at heychookooloonks on Instagram!).
