looking forward to the weekend
Pottery from Azerbaijan. The vase was a gift from my parents in 2004; the bowls were purchased by Marcus on a work assignment years before we met. Photographed with Nikon D300, 35mm lens.
Tonight, I will see a sweet friend I haven't seen in 6 months. She's in town for reasons completely unrelated to me, and I'm so honoured and moved that she's making an effort to make sure we get to connect. I'm so looking forward to it.
And then the rest of my weekend? Just lovely and quiet.
I was thinking recently how different my life is now than it was 10 years ago, when I was single, and childless, and partying like a rock star. I loved every minute of that time -- I needed that time -- but goodness, I don't miss it at all. It's fun reminiscing with my friends about the bands we used to follow, the nights we used to spend dancing until early morning hours -- but honestly, if given the opportunity to do this now? I really think I'd turn it down, in favour spending quiet time with Marcus and Alex. I'm not sure how that happened (because, honey, I do so love to dance), but I'm so grateful that my life has worked out that I've been ready for each chapter, with no regrets about leaving the previous one.
Fingers crossed that life continues to unfold this way.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
Song: Smooth, by Santana featuring Rob Thomas. In looking for today's feature song, I searched for the most popular songs ten years ago, in 1999. This one spent 12 weeks at number 1 -- and indeed, I loved this song.
