random thoughts: the weekend and the week ahead
This weekend was quite grey and rainy and drippy -- just like I like it when I don't have anything to do except stay indoors in the warm house and watch the raindrops. I particularly enjoy it when I'm at home working, so I'm hoping against hope that the inclement weather continues through Monday. Fingers crossed.

This week, I'm getting ready for my keynote speech at Blogalicious '09, to be held in Atlanta this coming weekend. It's been almost 20 years since I've visited Atlanta, and I remember loving it the last time I was there. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be spending much time in the city this time -- just flying in on Friday night, and back out right after my talk on Saturday -- so I won't get to fall in love with the city again. But after all the travel I've done this year, I promised Alex I would only spend one night away, and I mean to keep my word. (By the way, if you're attending the conference and you happen to see me, please tap me on the shoulder and say hi. I'd love to meet you.)

In preparation for the conference, I went clothes shopping this weekend for the first time in I don't know how long. I was planning to buy something quick and inexpensive, but on a whim I popped into this little boutique I hadn't noticed before, and well ... the best laid plans of mice and men and all that, you know? I couldn't help myself, I bought a dress that is a total risk, but I love it. And besides, when you're about to give a talk on "The Beauty of Different," I figure a risky dress is sort of mandatory.

Old fortune cookie fortune I found while cleaning my studio this weekend:
"Nothing is impossible with a willing heart."
Song: The devil went down to Georgia by The Charlie Daniels Band. I know it's not very politic to say this, but I always thought the devil played way better than Johnny.
