how to help hurricane laura victims (35/100)
Well, after a nervous 48 hours, Hurricane Laura made landfall … and nothing happened here in Houston. In our neighbourhood, we didn’t even get a single drop of rain. I’m not even entirely sure there was a breeze.
But it was a very close call.
That said, folks to the east of us were definitely not as lucky: Laura was one of the strongest hurricanes ever to make landfall on our coast, and many folks lost their homes. If you’d like to help:
The Louisiana Red Cross is taking donations (but because of COVID-19, they are only accepting cash donations)
The Cajun Navy is taking donations and supplies. The Cajun Navy is amazing — it’s an all-volunteer group of Louisiana citizens who help people in natural disasters. They descended upon Houston during Hurricane Harvey, and were everywhere, helping flood victims and saving lives. A great group.
Thanks in advance for your help, friends.
UPDATED TO ADD: Folks are sharing other ways to help, so I’ll keep updating this post as long as people share!
GlobalGiving has a relief fund going for Hurricane Laura victims. The money donated will provide immediate relief with emergency supplies like food, water, and medicine and support local long-term recovery efforts.
