be still

Last year, Marcus planted two milkweed plants in our front yard — our feeble attempt to help save the monarch butterflies. Only one of the plants lived, but right now, the other is covered with monarch caterpillars. Watching them feast on the milkweed is a lovely reminder of life, and of simplicity, and trusting in the process.

Also lovely: the following quote that I discovered earlier today on Facebook.

Try this perspective shift: instead of seeing ‘social distancing’ and travel bans as panic, try seeing them as acts of mass cooperation intended to protect the collective whole. This plan is not about individuals going into hiding. It’s a global deep breath ... an agreement between humans around the planet to be still.”
— Dr. Lindsay Jernigan

Here’s to being still together, friends.

Soundtrack: Appletree by Erykah Badu. This was playing as I was putting together this post.
