photovent 2010, day 19: love (and day 4 of the nikon d700 tour of galveston)

 "All you need is love."

After scouting slightly-unnerving dog statues, we decided to go into town.  This is actually my favourite part of Galveston:  the historic district, where really, the best way to get around is to walk.  There are very few places in Texas where walking is an option:  in this oil-rich state, driving is the way most people roll.

But the thing is?  I hate driving.  And when I met Marcus in London, one of our favourite things to do on a weekend when we were bored was just to walk out of our flats and just ... walk. Just see what we saw.

Gosh, I miss that.

Anyway, in Galveston, it's possible to pretend that you live in a city where walking is the norm.  And again, the architecture is so much fun:

Also, there are cool stores everywhere.  So when you see a store proporting to sell "nautical antiques and tropical decor"...

... there's no way that you pass that by.

That place made me want to buy a boat or a fishing shack just so I could decorate it with some of the weird finds that were all over the walls and floor.

Yeah, man. I miss walking in town.

Happy Love Thursday, everyone.

The image at the top of this post is the 19th image of Photovent 2010You can download the pdf for it here.  And click here to learn how to use it to assemble a beautifully different photo garland.  And the images of Galveston were shot with the Nikon D700 and the 16-35mm lens that Nikon so very kindly lent me.
