unexpected awesome
Over the last few days, I've been quietly freaking out here at the Chookooloonks house. I've become rather overwhelmed with the amount of writing I have yet to do in order to meet a few book deadlines. "I think I'm going to have to check into a hotel for a day or two to just write," I told Marcus, panicked. "Just go somewhere where I can focus for a few days, and not have to worry about doing anything but write." Primarily because he just wanted me to calm the hell down, he agreed, and I began to start looking for a cheap hotel nearby where I could hide.
Then two nights ago, I got a voicemail from my friend Beth. "I've been invited to speak at a spa next week," she said. "They've offered me full accommodation for two nights, and they said I'm welcome to bring a friend. Would you like to come?"
Seriously?
After double-checking with Marcus and Alex, and confirming with Beth that it would still be okay for me to come if all I planned on doing is holing up and writing, I decided to take her up on her offer. And so for the first part of next week, I'll be off, trying to make a dent in these books. With a little luck, I'll return with many, many pages of first drafts of sections, and maybe a manicure. Because if I'm particularly productive, I'm thinking I should treat myself to a manicure.
Have a great weekend, everyone. May your days be very, very sweet.
